AIM: We sought to evaluate the performance of transient elastography (TE) for the assessment of liver fibrosis in chronic hepatitis C (CHC) patients with beta-thalassemia. METHODS: Seventy-six CHC patients with beta-thalassemia underwent TE, liver biopsy, T2 -weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for the assessment of liver iron content (LIC) and laboratory evaluation.
